Alaska Governor Palin Mourns Loss of Fort Richardson Soldier

June 29, 2007, Anchorage, Alaska – Alaska Governor Sarah Palin expresses her condolences to the family of Sergeant Trista L. Moretti, who died in Iraq this week.
Sgt. Moretti died Monday, June 25, 2007, from wounds suffered in an insurgent attack on her position near Nasir Lafitah, Iraq, 35 miles south of Baghdad. Moretti, 27, from South Plainfield, N.J., was a signal intelligence analyst. She joined the Army in April 2003 and was assigned to Fort Richardson in November 2005.
Sgt. Moretti was assigned to Bravo Company, 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division.
“Todd and I are saddened by the death of Sgt. Moretti and we offer our condolences to her family and friends,†said Governor Sarah Palin. “Her bravery and service to this country are her legacy, and we honor her for it.â€
Governor Palin will fly a state flag over the Capitol in honor of Sgt. Moretti and send it, along with a letter of condolence, to her family.
