Governor’s son stationed at Fort Wainwright
February 8, 2008
Track Palin is reported to be stationed at Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks, which is nice. Over at the ADN blog lots of tongues are wagging about possible influence in the placement, etc. That’s rather ridiculous considering soldiers are asked to give a list of preferred assignments. There are no guarantee’s of course, but I’ve never heard of a waiting list to be stationed in Alaska.
My Guv’s Prettier Than Your Guv

From Tammy Swafford’s blog:
“I recently picked up the February issue of the magazine “Vogue” at my local newsstand. The glossy ad-filled pages are not my usual choice of reading material, but this month’s issue features an interview with the glamorous governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin. Pebble Mine questions state Habitat Division move
February 7, 2008
Juneau Empire:
The Pebble Mine’s would-be developers are concerned about the state Habitat Division’s current home in the Department of Natural Resources, according to a letter they wrote to Gov. Sarah Palin. “There is a perception that Gov. (Frank) Murkowski weakened state regulatory oversight when he moved the Habitat Division out of the Department of Fish and Game and into the Department of Natural Resources,” wrote Bruce Jenkins, interim general manager of Pebble Mines Corp., which wants to open a multi-metal mine in the Bristol Bay region of Southwest Alaska. Murkowski’s administration moved the Habitat Division to promote development of natural resources. In her election campaign, Palin criticized the move, but she has not restored the division to Fish and Game. House Bill 41, proposed last year and now being considered by the Alaska Legislature, would return the Habitat Division to its former home.

Board of Game nominee quits
February 7, 2008
ADN:
“A growing dispute between Native leaders and Gov. Sarah Palin may have been defused late Wednesday when Teresa Sager-Albaugh, a former Alaska Outdoor Council president, turned down her new appointment to the state Board of Game. Sager-Albaugh said she was withdrawing her name so that the growing controversy did not get in the way of the Game Board’s important work. Native leaders began protesting last week after Palin filled three vacancies on the Game Board, leaving no Native or off-road rural resident as members for the first time ever. The board sets policies for wildlife, hunting and subsistence on state and private lands in Alaska.”
