Palin Will Not Allow Abortion Bills In Special Session
April 24, 2008
KIMO:
Two abortion bills that failed to pass during the regular legislative session will not be added to the agenda of a special session on a natural gas pipeline, said Governor Sarah Palin. Wasilla republican and Senate President Lyda Green made the request only to receive a biting response from Palin.
Palin questioned why Green and her fellow Wasilla republican Charlie Huggins did not exercise their ability to move the bills out of committee to a floor vote in the regular session. She also suggested that the Legislature could call itself into special session to consider the parental consent and partial birth abortion bills. A two-thirds vote would be required to pass in both the House and Senate for any session requested by a lawmaker.
