Could the Libertarians Spoil Alaska for the GOP?

May 15, 2008

Sarah Palin & Ron Paul

David Weigel for Reason Online:

John McCain isn’t the most popular Republican for Alaskans. On Super Tuesday he placed fourth in the state’s caucus, behind Ron Paul. McCain’s opposed to drilling in ANWR, a real political anomaly for a Republican in this state—even most state Democrats want to start the drills spinning. So I’m not surprised to see that a Research 2000 poll (conducted for Daily Kos) shows McCain leading Barack Obama by only 7 points, 49-42, even though George W. Bush beat John Kerry 61-36. Actually, I think McCain could lose the state. Two reasons.

1) The Republican brand is shattered in Alaska. Gov. Sarah Palin is popular, but she became governor by primary-ing the loathsome Frank Murkowski. Sen. Ted Stevens and Rep. Don Young, both on the ballot this year, are more in the Murkowski mold. And right now they’re both losing to Democrats.

Well, republicans are really too picky. We know already the bad backgrounds of McCain.

But you know what, after learning everything about what happened to Him, the divorce with Carol Shepp…, Keating 5,,,,

I admired him more. After all the mistakes of this man… he has tried rectify his errors. He just didn’t justify them… he showed his true penance.

On the issue of being moderate republican… same thing. He is not pure conservative… but seeing that TV ad and his commitment to follow the footstep of Pres. Reagan and how humbly he considered the man as his champion and be like him… that thing is most admirable.

What is dangerous is the man you do not really know because he does not want to show his color, or he makes excuses about his leaning and not being true to himself and to his own belief/faith.

Arrogance is too dangerous. At least the humility of McCain… saying he has nothing to give to America but serve her well… because he is truly indebted to America…. that’s my real American…. although he made mistakes in the past… he tried to correct them!

America, we may be wrong… but don’t be hypocrite to stay wrong… move on and do the right thing for you!

Got something to say?
